Upset Stomach, Constipation!

No one likes talking about shit, literally, but having dealt with this thing called constipation I wanted to share what I’ve learned. A few weeks ago I spoke about what me and Ziana Eliz were going through on Instagram, I was surprised at how many of you guys dealt with the same issues.

What is Constipation?

First thing to know is that it’s considered constipation if you go to the bathroom less than 3 times a week. It’s uncomfortable, painful and bloating makes an appearance too. You may think that not shitting all the time is a good thing, who wants to waste time on the toilet? Well, think about it… we eat a lot of shit, things that aren’t good, so if we’re not releasing it from our bodies we are keeping all the bacteria inside. That in turn can make us sick– physically and mentally! Yeah, I just learned about the mental part myself.

Children’s Constipation Products

I got tons of tips and recommendations on pills to take and I dabbled with a few. Gunner is just like daddy- he poops… a lot, he can probably poop on command if I asked him. However, as of lately I was seeing he wasn’t going regularly either. The first thing I wanted to do was find something for them. I was given two recommendations; Pedi-lax. Pedi-lax comes with 6 applicators that you’ll insert in your child and will give them quick relief. I did it and it wasn’t too bad! The pain didn’t go away for Ziana, but she definitely felt relieved.

This wasn’t something I wasn’t going to be using regularly on her. I had to find something that she can take regularly that was healthy to get them on the right track to a happier and healthier poop. One of you guys (thank you so much) recommended Culturelle for Kids. These right here are great! They’re daily probiotic chewable tablets that will help your child’s digestive tract to work better and support a healthy immune system when taken regularly.

What I Took for my Shit

Next, it was time for me to deal with my shit. I had tried Purelax which is suppose to be like Miralax, it’s just a CVS brand and that crap didn’t work either! It’s a powder form that you put in your drink and it should work to soften your stool. Didn’t work for me and that might be because I was already too far into my shit it wasn’t going to soften anything.

I then tried Dulcolax Laxative Pills for women. It’s recommended to take 1-3 pills for overnight relief and should take about 6-12 hours to work. Well, it didn’t work. Instead I had sharp stomach pains and my stomach issues became 2x worse. I took me about a week to get rid of whatever I had and my shit was still not fixed.

So, did I end up finding anything that worked? YES! Fellow amigos, I introduce to you, Metamucil Fiber pills! This baby is a 3 in 1; helps lower cholesterol, helps maintain healthy blood, and promotes digestive health! All the things we need! It works! I’ve been using and having building a relationship with my toilet. It’s getting serious, I see him regularly, sometimes daily.

At Home Remedies

Constipation is extremely common. It can be caused by foods you eat or avoid, lifestyle choices, medication or disease. There are always things you can do at home to help:

  • Drink more water or even sparkling water
  • Get more fiber in your diet (Metamucil)
  • Working out makes you move, thus shaking up your bowels
  • Drink coffee, especially caffeinated coffee- it stimulates the muscles in your digestive system
  • The herbal laxative Senna is a common remedy for constipation that is available over-the-counter. It can stimulate the nerves in your gut to speed up bowel movements.
  • Eat probiotic foods or take probiotic supplements
  • Eat or drink prunes (my mom swears by this)
  • Try avoid dairy and see if that’s the problem. I’ve taken out yogurts and cheese from the home.

Amigos, I hope this helped! Tell me anything you’ve used that has worked either over-the-counter or at-home remedies! See you soon! Follow me on Instagram or Youtube!
