Grease Halloween Costumes

Grease Halloween Costumes

Halloween came and now is gone, love to get ready for it and hate to see it go. My absolute favorite holiday, from the scary decorations, to picking out a costume, to those corny Halloween movies. It’s something that I look forward to every year especially picking out our family themed costumes! I don’t know where this tradition came from, but one year I decided on it and it’s now been three years later and every year it comes down to what will we be? Since we had just moved and wanted to not go all crazy and spending tons of money on our costumes, I wanted to see what we could come up with in our closets. The Grease/1950s era immediately popped into my head! Who doesn’t love that era of leather jackets, poodle skirts and sexy hair?

It was a no brainer to go with the outfits from the end of the movie where Sandy and Danny do the whole reversal-role– Sandy becomes the bad-ass and Danny becomes the preppy boy he thought she wanted. Now we also had to include my mini-me and what better way to fit into that era then the poodle skirt outfit?!? As you scroll through the photos you’ll see all the details of what we purchased and what was already in our closets. Also, don’t forget to check out our Youtube video from that day 🙂

Sandy Grease Costume
Lets start with Sandy’s outfit super easy– all black EVERYTHING! The shirt was a simple something I had crammed in my dresser and I thought it would work perfect since the collar was easy to slip down a bit to give me the off the shoulder look. I own tons of jeans, but not many maternity jeans, since I’ve been loving Old Navy a lot more they were my first stop. I found these Rockstar Low Panel Super Skinny Jeans
in a size 2 for $35 and I almost cried. It was the last pair and they were in my size! Then the red heels were already in my closet purchased at Shoe Dazzle .

Next my hair was easy to do– curling every inch of my hair and pinning one side of my hair like Sandy. I kept the makeup light with a modern twist of course. Gray eye-shadow, no cat eye (which was hard to step away from), a nice bold red lip and some contouring. Thankfully, Sandy didn’t wear any crazy jewelry, but those gold hoops and who doesn’t have a pair of those?

Daddy’s outfit was easy-peasy as well. Like Sandy it was a pair of black jeans from Pacsun which was already in his closet, a white tee because men can never have enough of those and black Converses
which he already loves to wear. The only thing he did need was a black leather jacket and him not being a leather wearing kind of man he had to go buy one and where else than Macy’s! This snazzy leather jacket from the INC International Concepts brand saved the day. Voila, his look was done!

Finally, my Ziana was next and looking for her costume was fun! When you want to look for an outfit quickly and at a great price Amazon is the perfect place to look. We decided to get this cute little 50’s Poodle Cutie Toddler Costume for a steal at $19.02. The outfit came with a shirt and poodle skirt dress, polka dot petti skirt, matching scarf and matching belt with buckle. So all I needed to do was look what I could gather from her closet to complete the look; black shoes, white socks with ruffles and pink ribbon, thanks to my mommy being a seamstress.

I was super pleased with the outcome and being pregnant and all, I know you might be wondering if I walked in those red heels while trick-or-treating, answer is HECK NO!

Hope you all had a fabulous Halloween as well, and let me know what you dressed up as!
