Disney's Frozen on Broadway

Frozen drink anyone? Or maybe Frozen on Broadway with a frozen drink? Last week I was able to see Frozen thanks to Petite Seat! It was a girls night, a night to enjoy the theatre without the most important princess of them all, Ziana Eliz (my daughter if you’re not a weekly watcher.) Ziana was not happy that she didn’t get to see it– watch the disappointment here.

I know Frozen is a Disney movie— something for kids, but hello, adults enjoy Disney too!! Also, knowing how intense Frozen can get during the film at times, Petite Seat wanted us parents to fully review it without children and give our take whether or not we’d recommended it for young audiences.

First things first, if you’re in NYC or visiting, you should check out Petite Seats— it’s a parent’s guide to theatre and live entertainment in the New York City area. So any show you’re thinking about watching with your child, it’ll give you a run down to age appropriateness, length time and so much more.

Is Frozen on Broadway appropriate for your young child?

FROZEN on Broadway is a full-length theatrical Broadway experience, lasting two and a half hours. That’s pretty long for a child like Gunner (2-years-old, my son). Now you may think since they do so well at the movies they might be able to sit through it, but I wouldn’t chance it. Besides, this isn’t the movies, it’s Broadway darling. Definitely recommended for ages 4 and older, but all depends on the kind of kid you have. Remember to practice theatre etiquette too! We all love singing along to our favorite Disney songs, but some may not want to hear your belt out of tune.

I would definitely recommend trying out another show, less restricted to a seat and more interactive like Disney on Ice – Mickey’s Search Party, which will be coming to NYC in November and includes Frozen! Wining! Then returning in January is Frozen on Ice– highly recommended! We went to Dare to Dream and that was magical.

Overall, the actors were great, special effects were on point, and the changes of scenery is something I very much enjoyed. The show follows the storyline of the movie to the T, adding some new songs that will peak your interest. Oh, and lets not forget some of the comical entertainment along the way.
