Have You Seen Me?

I have a blog. I write about my family, experiences and anything else that tickles my fancy. So why not try to help others too? I love children especially those in need of help. I have always been an advocate for them when it comes to education, health and most importantly anything dealing with their safety (abuse, kidnapping). I worked in foster care for 4 years and although I didn’t work with them directly of abuse I did the best I could with those kids. A few years back I did intern at Safe Horizon Queens Child Advocacy Center.

Since it’s hard to report child abuse when it’s happening and only find out about it after a child is killed in the news there is not much we can do until after the fact. I do encourage if you suspect any child being abused to call the police immediately it shouldn’t matter if its your own relative. I remember one case I had where the aunt called the police on her own niece because she had seen some bruising. It was later revealed after examining the child that not only did he have bruising, but he was sexually abused.

That’s why when I hear on the news that a child was raped, killed or abducted my heart sinks. The worst crime anyone could commit is violence against a child. Why did someone not see those signs? How do you hurt an innocent child or attempt to hurt an innocent child? That’s why even prisoners who have committed capital murder, serial rapist or serial killer always end up trying or killing those perverts.

Within the past week there have also been up to 4 failed abductions in New Jersey. It’s scary to think that if the kids had decided to get in the car what would’ve happened. Thankfully all children who were approached knew to walk away and one was able to escape. For the kids who unfortunately are not able to escape we as a society need to know which children are abducted and keep an eye out for them. That being said I’ve decided to put up pictures of children who are missing every week on my blog and ask “Have you seen me?”

All the children I will be putting up are from The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children website. They are either abducted children, family abduction, missing or endangered runaways.
