First Time Getting a Babysitter

Growing up in a latino culture
In many latino cultures, particularly my Peruvian culture, many of us were raised to not have babysitters. It was family takes care of family and no one else is to be trusted. But, all my family was in Peru so my parents really had no choice when my mom decided to get a job during my elementary school days. I vividly remember my babysitter– she was a classmates mom, who was also one of my Girl Scout leaders and was just amazing. I loved going to her home and was super sad when those days ended.
For my mom to have trusted her with me for years was a huge deal! Even when I became a mom I was against the whole babysitter thing, I have my mom why do I need one? Unfortunately, that comes with limits and last month my parents selfishly decided to go to Peru for a month!
A whole damn month.
I guess my parents deserve some time off from their everyday life in New York. I gave them my blessings and off they went– okay not really, but it would’ve been nice to have been in on the whole conversation.
I had an event to go to at Madison Square Garden and the boyfriend had a running meet and we both couldn’t miss our events. I contacted a friend who I trusted, contacted babysitters that my friend had used and nothing was working. That’s when I remembered about a site Hello Chime— online babysitting service. Yeah, I know, I know, but you guys… I was completely satisfied!
